They should ask where each statistic came from, which organization recorded it, and under what methodology. When readers begin asking those questions, the basketball media will have to raise its standard. The biggest risk is not a lack of data. The biggest risk is using emotion to fill the gap left by missing evidence. This empty analysis file, ironically, shows how to act with discipline. It did not invent conclusions.
