F4 race winner Simmons returns with new team

British F4 race winner Ayrton Simmons-Fernandez 16, who is based in Epping will return to the championship for a second full season with the Multi championship winning JHR Developments squad.

Simmons who won at Brands Hatch last year is targeting the championship as he joins JHR Developments for 2018. He will be joined at the team by JHR returnee Manuel Sulaiman.

When asked Simmons commented “When we were given the opportunity to join JHR Developments for 2018, it was a no brainer. I have seen how professionally they operate over the last year from the outside. We will have a limited testing plan due to my other commitments but we all feel that I will have a genuine crack at the championship. Having Manuel as a team mate is great news as we are both native Spanish speakers and good friends away from the track”.

Simmons went on to add “I would like to thank my outstanding sponsors DWS, ELEV8 and Couper Earnshaw, who were all as excited as me to be part of the JHR family”.

Steven Hunter, JHR Developments Team Principal added “We have followed Ayrton’s progress with interest as he is an incredibly talented young driver, this will be his second full season in F4 and we feel he has a genuine chance at the championship. We have finished 2nd and 3rd in the overall championship previously, and with the team we have assembled we are sure we have a great chance at outright championship honours in 2018”.

The 2018 British F4 championship starts at Brands Hatch on the Indy circuit on the weekend of 7th and 8th April.
